Abacus R44 in new colors

Postby euroastar350 » Mon Jan 19, 2004 9:01 pm

Hi everyone,

New to the board here, just wanted to post a few screens of the Abacus R44 (part of the FS Whirlybirds package) in a new skin.

The repaint is based on the ill-fated WISN-TV Newschopper 12 that crashed a few years ago. They have another R44, but I don't have the slightest clue on what color it is. Let me know what you guys think, since I can't post the textures online might as well show you guys the paint in a picture.

Now that's a unique little bird, I saw that pkg on the storeshelf at Fry's Electronics last week, but Ive been avoiding them as Im not that crazy bout the pkg I bought from them before Uhhh, the "Military Aircraft collection", on CD.
So what's the cockpit look like, that's what sells me, heh, I mean cuz that's where I'll be 95% of the time. ;)

Oh,........and gosh forgive my manners,.............Lol!!
Welcome to SimV!!! ;D

Hi SabreHawk,

Thanks for the warm welcome, I would advise you not to buy this package. The helicopter designs except the Dauphin are of poor quality. The Dauphin is actually a freeware helo which you can find anywhere on the internet (2 versions, N2 which is the one in the package and also there is an N3 version on the internet). The panels and DVC are  :-[. If you really want a good helo with a good panel and a better DVC, there are hundreds out there to chose from. I made the biggest mistake in buying this package even though I am a huge helicopter freak. Take care and hope to see some of your pics.

PS. The tailboom on the R44 is not that thick and big.

Abacus seems to be very greedy, and lazy. Has anyone seen there S-76?  ??? Who made it? And the Dauphin, thats a joke, its free online!  That R44 is by no means accurate, but nice repaint! ;) I've flown in the R-44, and I'd love to see the cockpit of that Abacus one. Do you mind posting a picture?
         Again, Nice repaint!

I would have to agree Mike. Some of the payware being released these days is mind bogglingly beautiful.  Shame that some payware companies what to charge for things like this
