Well:

It's a great attempt but I have a few critiques -

1. The heat blur would extend out to the end of the pic not in afterburner cone shape*

2. You can generally only see heat blur in certain conditions on the ground or during immediate takeoff/landing

Just my two cents

*I'll do my own version if you don't mind to show you ;)

Ya... I know heat blur is usually only seen from near the ground or during certain conditions. Feel free to post how it should be done. It's the only way to learn, Follow the Pro's  ;)

Are you using photoshop? If so check out this tutorial for the heat blur

Here is my EXTREMELY quick version:

I know the blurs kinda in the wrong direction but you get the idea ;)

Ooooo... Very nice. For the beginning part, I was using GIMP until I reinstalled Photoshop onto this machine. I was following "Sytse's Heat Blur Tutorial" I found on the Help section I believe. I'll definitely check out the one you linked. Looks much better  ;)

*Edit*: Now that I look at mine, I guess it turned out as more of a "flameless" afterburner than a heat blur  ;D ;D ;D
