If you are going to do that effect, make sure the direction of it is the same as the plane and not off to the side.

Make sure that the blur is going in the same direction of the plane :-/

I assume that he's using Gimp, which in that case that effect is funny. It only allows for two directions - left and right -  as far as I know. Let me know if I'm wrong.

It has a neat look to it from my perspective. If that were to happy in real life, that's one NASTY crosswind  ;D
