Abandoned and Long Forgotten...

Postby Lazerbeak » Sat Jan 13, 2007 9:16 pm

Felt like making a sort of sad edit today. This pic features a once-proud and mighty MiG-19, now obsolete, forgotten, and left to rust in the sun.

The contrast between the middleground and background is kind of dull. I'd suggest putting sky in or something.

Other than that, looks great. :)

After reading the critiques, I went ahead and made a few improvements. I've added a sky, upped the contrast a bit, added some more weathering and shadows, and a few other details to make it a bit more realistic. Also, look closely and you'll see that the MiG is not so abandoned anymore. :D

As always, comments appreciated.

Ah thats looking good Lazer! I like the birdy and he's... giving me the bird... Well apart from that rude bird I like it! The original didn't seem like it was actually resting on the ground... but you nailed it in the 2nd!  ;)

That still looks flyable...

Abandoned wrecks are
1: parked in the sand and not on the tarmac
2: in need of wooden blocks to keep the gear from collapsing
3: missing some or all interesting parts (cockpit hatch)
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and [url=http://an24.uw.hu/]An-24RV[/ur

*cough*

Anyways, compared to the first one, you're second edit looks completely different, much much better

You could, extend *ng-hey!* the engine cover and cut it *glavin!* off the MiG leaving it on the ground beside it.  ::) ;) ;D

i like it but my suggestions

1.more ageing e.g. rust
2.get rid of a part of the plane as suggested above

Very nice, although I would agree with the sentiments of others.

Going by these pics...

http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0625504/L/
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0909664/L/

...I'd say:

1. More sand
2. More weathering
3. Less shine

If you can, you could also remove the canopy.

Nice work so far though, I especially like what you've done with the shadows. They can be very tricky to get right. :)
