2 Eurofighters braking formation with a ....... (<- to be filled in by the aircraft experts)

I'm very dissatisfied with how this edit turned out. I really messed it up, but I don't know what to do to make it better... I just got stuck.  :(

What do you guys think?

Here goes nothing...

The only thing that looks wrong to my untrained eyes, is the Eurofigther in the foreground.  The one breaking off looks perfect to me.  I like it.  :)

I agree, the background aircraft looks great, forground a little odd, perhaps it needs to be slightly bigger? and the angle isnt quite right, it looks like the aircraft is flying towards the tanker, (If its RAF then VC10, but i'm not sure if that is one)

Also on a detail note, you used the same aircraft for both, that being Prototype DA-4 of which there is only one of in the world  ;) (if you get my drift, I mean its not like an RAF aircraft where they all look the same, DA-4 has some "Eurofighter Typhoon" markings, etc.. Having the other British prototype, DA-2 (ZH588, the all black one) or any of my repaints would have been cool ;)

Thanks guys!
But didn't you know that the DA-4 has a 'Holographix Deflector Device'

Oh and I don't think it's a tanker, just an airliner because I found this crappy pic on the web somewhere. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Lol I KNEW they were testing new secret technology down at Warton!!! I didnt think it was actually a VC10, or Tristar, no idea what it actually is though.

Not sure I follow that?? Do you mean extra roundels on the wing, or a funny colour?

In general i mean a more live texture, it seems to be flat

Thanks Zitin
You know... the colour was exactly my problem, but I just couldn't fix it, whatever I tried  :(
Sure, I could have used some dodging or even have drawn some lines, but I'm just too damn lazy :P

try adding a little alpha, so its slightly reflective  8) then it'll catch variations in the light

Thanks, but I really don't know what 'alpha' is...
I'm pretty shure I can do it though. I'm using PS 6 ???

An alpha layer in what sets the reflectivity in FS. you need to make a new bmp, which is layed out just like the normal texture bmp, but is just in grey scale.

On the alpha bmp, if you want an area to be matt, make it white. To be pure chrome, make it black. All the shades of grey in between become varying levels of relflectivity. You just want a bitmap, thats a light grey all over. (for simplicity, and so you can use the same one for each of the typhoons 4 main textures)

In dxtbmp. open one of the main texture files, then [alpha] >> [import alpha layer] and browse to your new alpha bmp.

Then save as DXT3 or 32bit as is your preferance. (dxt is smaller by looses detail. 32 bit is larger but full detail)

Do the same for all the other textures you need to make slightly reflective (the 4 main texture files, in the case of this typhoon)

Open FS and see how she looks.

No probs. thats a very basic outline. you can of course colour different parts of the alpha different shades to get verious different areas of matt and shiney on the same bitmap.  8)
