Cheers all.

The missile is an aim-8 or something, in the F-15 you can free-fire all missiles however any russian a/c you have to get a lock on another aircraft.  Just fire it and immeditately press s (pause), then double tap it quickly to get it in the correct position.

ahh LOMAC. great sim just picked it up, but having problems with landing / not being shot down, but oh well. Great shot anyway.
