any flightsimulator(rule 3). Does that include non Mircosoft games?

Personally I'd stick to MSFS

I agree that rule 8 can be removed.

Maybe add a rule that the judges always can ask for the original unedited screenshot when they suspect cheating.

Sounds fair enough to me.

Seeing the volume of entries for the normal screenshot comps I'd probably go for one shot per entrant...

Yeah, but we are likely to see less entries here. I say give it a go the first month with two. Get everyones opinion on how difficult it was and what can be changed for the better. trial and elimination guys.

How about the winner becomes one of judges for the next month competition.
He/she could have the casting vote, seeing as you have 4 judges which might lead to a 50/50 split. ;D

"Maybe add a rule that the judges always can ask for the original unedited screenshot when they suspect cheating."
Good idea.

A revised set, based on the comments made, i've removed the first rule entirely as we dont actually have a prize  ;) and im sure the persons style of editing would show them up in multiple entries anyway

The Rules:

Any contestant judged to have violated these rules will be disqualified.

Please start a thread for your entries with the following format:
Entry for unofficial Edits Contest *year* / *month* by *name*

eg

Entry for unofficial Edits Contest 2005 / March by Igorski

1. Contests will run from the first of the month, until the 21st of the month (aprox 3 weeks). Entries submitted after Midnight of the the 21st GMT will not be accepted. Judging will occur after the 21st and the results, and any criteria for the next comp will be announced before the 1st of the new month.

2. Once an entry is submitted, it may not be withdrawn.  This is to keep the confusion to a minimum, and to maintain forum integrity.  Entries may be withdrawn from the contest, but no additional entries from that member will be accepted.

3. Base screenshots may be taken from any MS Flight sim, and are not limited to freeware aircraft, you must edit the shot in some way.

4. Only 2 entries per member.

5. Any particular edit must be produced specially for use in this contest, but the same base image may have been taken at any time, and can be re-used if you wish.

6. All images must be within proper forum guidelines.  Any images over 100 kb in weight and greater than 800 pixels wide will not be considered.

7. No-one can be forced to judge

8. No-one who judges can enter the competition

9. Anyone wishing to judge in the next comp must make announce this in their entry

-- end of rules --

I agree with jusges being able to request the base screenshot if in doubt. As for the winner being the judge of the next comp, see rule 7, we can request that they offer their support by judging, also this removes any 'favouritism' issues, but if the same person made two darn good edits, in two consecutive months, they they should deserve the credit?

Hi all, just been talking to 'Fly2e' We ok to proceed with march's edits comp. As soon as we get an agreement on rules, we'll just have to let him know and it'll get stickyed. Whats the topic for this march's comp? That;ll need to go in the sticky too.

YES! ;D
Right,
Rules : Current ones seem fair, yet strict enough to me ;)
Also we should look into adding a list of GUARANTEED judges for every month (like myself), that way we can go with the idea of entrants PM'ing one of us, just to make sure their entry isn't missed :)

Topic : Maybe something simple like, Default Aircraft? or one you rarely see : Helo's?

Cheers,

Carl

Darn i knew i'd forgotten that. Yes we will need one user per comp who will be able to accept PM's from entrants to make sure their entries are noted. Also additional rule.

Entrants muct send a PM to *selected judge* before the end of the comp to make sure their entry is counted.

We shouldnt disqualify someone who forgets, as this is really just asn extra checking measure for us.

It's the easiest if just 1 judge receives all the pm's and maintaining a list. If all the judges have to do this together then it would be way to complicated.

About the list of guaranteed judges, I will stay judge for a while so you can put me on the list, if you want to make one.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and, whatever you hit, call it the target.

There's no sense in being precise when you don't even know what you

After a few comps, and changes of judges lots of people know it... I think just allocating one judge to receive PM's is best, We need to make it clear in the sticky that it may change each month! (ie the receiver from the previous month: expect PMs from people who dont know it may have changed! and please refrain from having a go at them, a gentle push towards looking at our sticky each month will do fine.)

Also my vote goes with modern mil, but we need to make sure we change each month, or me and t'other Andy will do modern mil every month

Ok so topic is modern military, Carl if your ok to receive PM's then just shout, otherwise one of the other judges will need to voulenter, a list of all the judges would be useful too, so we know who's doing what and who cant enter.

While I think, we'll want some kind of example pic for the sticky, so do you want me to dig up some of my old edits, I've got that smashing red arrows one, or a low flying F16? feelw free to use one like that Tornado from the start of the last comp, thats was neat!
