RAF Aircraft

Okay, hey guys

one of my friends saw to RAF aircraft going over today, and he was asking me what they might be, but i couldnt help him.

this is the dexcription he gave me and i was wondering if any of you could shed some light onto the matter

wel, it was a relatively boxy aircraft, two seater, seated side by side, not like that of the tucano, and it had two prop engines, one on each wing, obviously, and when i showed him a pic of the Diamond DA-40 this he said it was definately wider and roughly the same sort of length, but if anything a little longer

i was completely baffled.

oh and mods, im wasnt sure as to where to put this so please feel free to move it.

Not anymore they're not. They were retired in 2004.

Probably a Beech King Air - operated as the Jetstream's replacement...

Or and RN Jetstream if in Cornwall, although the Jetstream looks a lot bigger...

Note also that the Jetstream also has a very distinctive sound (One or two fly over daily as i live one mile away from culdrose). Plus, the RAF dont use jetstreams. Maybe he mistook it for RN.

Judging by the description i'd say the King Air was more likely.

When someone got the King Airs, they were painted in a scheme not dissimilar to the RN Jetstreams, and of course, the roundels are all the same.

I assume there were two (to) of them. If they were service types it would help to know what colours they were & where they were spotted. I can't think of many twin-engined two-seaters that fit the bill.

Lol! If I had my way, multis training would be conducted in either the Avro Anson, or if they insisted on a nose wheel aeroplane, a DH Devon or Beagle Basset...

yes two of them in formation, you know the one...

and seen over coventry, mny freind was on his way back form school and saw them go over, now im thinking that they could be from baginton, but im not sure

How well does your friend know his aeroplanes? Having said that, Coventry would not be too far out of a Cranwell King Air's way...

he doesnt know them very well

it was more like the jetstream than the king air, but it had red "clyinder type things" ( ) on the ends of the wings.
