UGH THEY CALLED IT THE LIGHTNING II!!!! Daft idiots!
Lightning II eh? So, which Lightning are they naming it after?
According to the promotional stuff, both. They're naming it after the P-38 for the US and the EE Lightning for the RAF/RN. All very cunning, except that the RAF had one or two Lightnings on trial in WWII and there were also recorded occasions of them being operated by RAF crews in WWII too...
Do you think we on the forum have the collective power to give it the nickname of Sh*te'awk?![]()
Go forth to websites and forums and airshows and things and start talking about the F35 Sh*te'awk!!!
I am not a big fan of the name, but it is good for an official name. I guarantee it will have a seperate nickname, just like the A-10 (Official=Thunderbolt II, Not official=Warthog)
Stupid lockheed......do they have no knowledge of Aviation history??
I would think hope they would. Seeing as how that company paved the way for numerous accomplishments in the aerospace industry.
