THANKS! Nexus and Silverfox.
That is the kind of info I was looking for. (....info for which I was looking. ;))
Let me see if I understand this........
On the Captain's EFIS control panel (one of two panels) there is a "L" switch that controls what shows on the Captain's display as to what Nav 1 and ADF 1 are tuned to. Can I assume then that the "off" position shows nothing?
On the Boeing MFD this is displayed on the lower left of the screen and the appropriate pointers appear on the Arc / Rose display.
The other "L" switch does basically the same thing but shows what NAV 2 and ADF 2 are tuned to.
So these switches solely affect what is displayed on the MFD........ and take no other active "control" function.
Is this all correct?
Or...... do these switches also,at the same time, act like activating the NAV function on the autopilot and engaging the autopilot? In other words, so when the "L" switch is "off" you are manuallly flying the plane, but when the "L" switch is set to VOR....... the plane is tracking that VOR (or ADF respectively)?
I am guessing that the latter is not the case, since then if BOTH switches were "on" and set "L" = VOR and "R"=ADF........ then the plane would not know WHERE to go ;).
Sorry I am so dense about this one. :)
best,
.......................john
