What aircraft is this?

As has been said already, its just another plane for the US goverment. Chances are that the president may never have flown in that aircraft?! It would have been used for the presidentual party and associates that would follow on. Clinton/Bush would have most likely gone on a Gulfstream or another aircraft (which would have become airforce 1)

It's a C-9C. it's part of the SAM or Special Air Missions wing of the Air force charged with transporting any VIP including the President, Vice President, Members of Congress and othe US dignitaries. They are also the folks who take care of the VC -25s (The 747 version). The airforce also uses a version called the Nightingale for medical transport and the Navy calls them Skytrains.

I don't think it matters what aircraft it is. If the president goes for a ride in a piper cub, an ultralight or a bell 47 it is automaticly designated with the call sign "Air Force One". i don't think they would be big enough to hold all the Secret Service Agents though.

I believe that the smallest "Air Force 1" was an Aero Commander......

Not entirely accurate. Any fixed-wing aircraft the president flys in is designated Air Force 1 while he is in the aircraft. Any rotary-wing aircraft (V-22 might fall here, but I'm not sure) that the president is in is designated Marine 1. Any watercraft the president is in is called Navy 1 (last time this was officially used was with Truman I believe).
There is no "Air Force 1" aircraft. When Bush goes to Camp David, if his VC-25 is to leave to take the Chaney somewhere, it loses is Air Force 1 designation and goes by its registration number.
