Am I the only one who likes the MkI best?

With the "straight" canopy and the two bladed wooden prop, right?

Not quite. The Mk1a. With the bubble canopy and three bladed prop. And 8 .303 machine guns.

Although, having said that, the prototype did look kinda cool.

I've never been crazy about the Spitfire as the fuselage has always been rather lacking.  But the Tropical MkV version has always put the finishing look on a technically great aircraft.

Now to get in a anti-marmalade bunker... :o

From a GAMING point of view, I prefer the Spit V.  From a LOOKS point of view, the Mk.22 is my favorite.

What about the XI's?  My vote goes to the Spitfire XI's of the USAAF's 8th AF Photo-Recon.

my favorite is probably the Mk.XIVe.
hopefully I'll get to see some soon, because sometime this I'm going to get my my parents to take me Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH, it's only a few hours from here.  it's also the sight of the only XB-70 Valkyrie and the space shuttle Enterprise, among other things.

To add to the thread..........
All the MkVIII's were fitted with standard "C" wings, no evidence of "E" or others. So I assume 20mm cannon were fitted.
Any/ all the Merlins were "classics"

I never could get on with the Occidental kit, nose profile looks like a PR XI. I do like the Hasegawa Spit IX in 1/48 scale but I guess that too has its faults.
I'd love to see a pic however so if you follow the instructions in this link you should be able to post a pic.

So Tempest, you should then know how mant times my occidental almost took a test flight across the room!!!! ;D

I did a bit of modifying, and added a true details cockpit kit in which I put 53 hours into. It is the first time I have re-positioned flaps, ect. I am going to try to put it in.
Letss keep the fingers, (and rudders...hehehe) crossed.

Cheers Brent
