L-1011 models

I have seen mention of different L-1011 models. Some are called L-1011-385-1, L-1011-1, and L-1011-1-15(100). Can someone explain the difference between these models? The reason I am asking is because I have two different panels for the L-1011 in FS98. One has analog dials and one has vertical bars to display the engine output. I think the one with the dials is for the L-1011-1 and L-1011-500, while the one with vertical bars if for the L-1011-250 and L-1011-385-1. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That is a great site, but it didn't answer my question about why the cockpit panels have different instrument types and which models had which panel.

One word of caution, while flightsim modellers try to make their models as accurate as possible, sometimes accuracy gives way to practicality.

Other sites/publications/books may have better reference material, but even then, individual (real) aircraft may have variations.

Admittedly an unusual exception, but while most Grumman Gulfstream I's1 had analog instrumentation (given the time period they were built), I know of one example that had a full "glass" cockpit..

Probably customer specification... just as KLM had dials and Martinair had bars on their 747 classics

Do you happen to know if Pan Am had panels with bars or dials on their L-1011-3(500)'s?

Pan Am N503PA (Now RAF ZE706) has round dials, but no idea if that's a conversion.

RAF tri-stars are all as was bought with only military refits being done. They will most likely all have analogue cockpits. The 385 model has an analogue cockpit. I am not really up on the knowledge of the L1011 DC10 is my area, but i dont think any models had a true glass cockpit, how ever delta's 385 had some glass instruments with analogue as backups.

As for the differances, engines, i believe size and also minor design changes to the airframe. But again not really an expert on this plane so feel free to correct where i am wrong

Craig, they are not talking about analogue or digital here, but round dials or tape bars as the engine indicators.
