Well France now only has one remaining WWI veteran. I can only hope I live such a long life! All I can say is 110 is an amazing innings :o

Just read that story on another online newspaper.

What is interesting is that he took part in the Battle of the Somme in 1916, in which more than a million soldiers died.

I wonder what a soldier at the somme would have said if you'd told him he would still be alive at the start of 2008. Rather, I don't wonder, I know they'd have been incredulous.

RIP Louis, you did your country proud. :'(
