Sep.28 Hagar's Ancestors Come to Britain!

Postby Felix/FFDS » Wed Sep 28, 2005 10:08 am

WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR INVADES ENGLAND:
September 28, 1066

If you need further explanation,  it appears that Hagar's ancestors decided that Normandy was not going to be enough to constrain the antics of their future offspring, so Slick Willie decided to muscle in on Harry's territory.

Harry was already a wee bit tired from a scrap he'd just had, so Willie caught him in bad shape and beat the poop out of him, and so won the game of  King of the Hill.

Ah, an excuse for a celebration. This merits a drop of the hard stuff. :D 8)

I've never traced my ancestry but it's quite possible I have Norman blood in my veins. On the other hand I might be one of Harry's motley crew. ;)

Thanks Omag. Its a tad chilly outside to go prancing around in my tights. Think I'll settle for a drop of the golden nectar & propose a toast to my ancestors, whoever (or whomever) they might be. ;)

Here's to Harry & Willy, not forgetting that hairy bunch of ruffians in skirts who invented Scotch whisky. Cheerio chaps, down the hatch. ;D

wasn't there a 60 foot wall carpet picturing that war, or at least a battle of it?

The Bayeux Tapestry. http://hastings1066.com/

It was the Battle of Hastings in 1066. About the only date most people remember from their school history lessons.

Ruddy Normans ::) I can trace my heritage back to a mixture of Celt and Viking! Death to all invaders, Saxons, Normans, but NOT Japanese tourists as we need their money ;D

If that's true, one of your female ancestors obviously didn't feel quite the same way. :P :D

What you have to remember Doug is I come from a long line of nymphomaniacs, my father was a nymphomaniac. My grandfather was a nymphomaniac. My great-grandfather.... ;D

Hmm... dictionary.com reveals that nymphomania is a typical femal problem... So it wasn't the male side of your family that made you what you are Ozzy!

I've got dark hair... so somewhere along my ancestorial history, a Spanish wiener was involved!  ;D It's all in the mix!
