Carriers would be so mush easier to land on if they would just stop turning!!!

Good for Boeing!!! Airbus deserves to be outwitted with that crazy transparent airplane idea.

I would hardly call it "outwitting" them
I dont like airbus, some people who've been here a while know why, but the simple fact is, Airbus were brainstorming ideas for 50 years in the future or what we might see. Heck recently Boeing were touting the fact you could see the stars on the ceiling of the 787 with its LED lights and such at night, which has a calming effect apparently, Airbus just went and said one day they would be able to give the real thing.
as usual with the A Vs B war its a p*ssing contest..  ;)

[quote] Boeing were touting the fact you could see the stars on the ceiling of the 787 with its LED lights and such at night, which has a calming effect apparently,
"A bit of a pickle" - British translation: A catastrophically bad situation with potentially fatal consequences.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

I don't really see how anyone's outwitted anyone else. he thing that I find most interesting about that article is this quote:

The technology is there, we could build it (a supersonic aeroplane), but we couldn't sell it.

This is really too bad because it would be such an advancement.

The technology has been around (Concorde?).  Part of the problem is the restriction of sonic booms over land, so you can only get maximum speed at sea.  The other part is sheer cost.  Sure you could charge more for tickets (seats on the concorde were far from cheap), but then the market looking for expensive high speed overwater transit is pretty small.

I remember people said that the ticket price was about the same as a regular first class ticket. So a one way ticket would be about $9000 nowadays?

Depends on when you're talking about. According to this article a return ticket from New York to London cost $9,000. It was written in October 2001. Concorde Tickets Back On Sale

Blackbird Air  ;D

Get cryo facilities, and then you wouldn't have to endure any annoying customers, you wouldn't complain about leg room, you wouldn't get bored of TV. You'd go from London to New York in a matter of minutes and you could fit many times the number of people on a standard flight.

I don't get it, Boeing said they could build this Supersonic plane back in the 60's but never did. Not that technology is far better then it was in the 60, and 4 planes to model them after: Concord, B-1A, XB-70 and SR-71, you would have thought they would have put there money where their mouth was a long time ago.

-XB-70-rides its own sonic boom for more speed and less fuel burn
-SR-71-Burns less fuel at mach 3 and higher according Pratt & Whitney then it does at lower speeds
-B-1A- Swing wing to have lower landing speeds, but able to cruise at mach 2
-Concord-only practical supersonic passenger jet
