UK air space is closed...

Postby Rich H » Thu Apr 15, 2010 8:21 am

No flights allowed to enter UK airspace, and all flights are grounded as the ash cloud heads our way.

Scandinavia looks like it's having serious problems too.

I've been tracking this and it now looks like airspace in multiple Western European countries is completely closed! This is certainly unusual looking!

Closed airspace:

All UK Airspace,

Norway,

Belgium,

Northern France,

Western/Northern Germany,

Netherlands,

Denmark,

& probably Sweden and Finland will be shutting down soon too.

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Even though the airspace has been closed i've seen quite a few light aircraft and helicopters flying around.

Do they have an altitude restriction? I guess the ash cloud is pretty high.

I don't think there are any problems for Microlight/Ultralight/Flexwing Pilots... ;)...!

Aircraft flying at 50,000 feet and upwards are mostly affected, eg; Commercial Passenger Jets.

The Ash is being carried aloft by the high altitude Jet Stream.

Paul....smokin'.... ;D...!

P.S ...Folks living around major Airports are enjoying beautiful peace and quiet for a change....and listening to the Garden Birds instead!... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

That might be so but it has to come down somewhere. For example, all over my nice clean car. >:(
