Mi-8 down in Kamchatka

Ten killed on heliskiing tour in Kamchatka - A good friend of mine (aka. skiguide posted in photo section) has done this trip with some customers 6 years ago: same helo, same pilot... Sad to see it again that way!

Sad to hear. That's quite an unusual circumstance for a helicopter to be affected by an avalanche.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Indeed, though it sounds quite absurd: the helo dropped the boarders and landed several feet below them to pick them up again after the ride - it's assumed that the downwash caused the avalanche...
