A B-25 Story

Back in the '50's here in Miami we'd have an annual mosquito problem, just swarms of 'em.

So, where do old B-25's go when their day is done?

Several B-25s were used by film companies as camera ships. The one used for filming the combat sequences in the Battle of Britain feature film ended up being dumped at my local airport at Shoreham where it stood rotting in the sea air (minus a nosewheel) for some considerable time. In the end the outstanding parking charges were worth more than the aircraft & I think they let it go at a nominal fee just to get rid of it. I don't know where it is now but I read a rumour that it was purchased by a warbird restorer. Charlie might have more info.

PS. Here's a photo taken in 1968 during filming. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/3773965
This is the history of the aircraft. Last heard of in poor condition in Franklin, VA. http://www.warbirdregistry.org/b25registry/b25-4431508.html

There are quite a few that have been restored and are still flying.  "Miss Mitchel" is located in Minnesota, and one of my friends is one of her pilots during airshow season.  Last I heard there are better than 25 B-25s in the US still airworthy, and many more sitting in museums.
