Hopefully it'll give the controller a bit more situational awareness, and hopefully will prevent a few more people flying their aeroplanes into the ground.

All being well it'll prove a success, but won't be prohibitively expensive to prevent the countries that really need it (countries whose ATC and pilot training systems aren't quite at "western" standards) affording it.

Must be a secondary (beacon) system.  Primary radar would go beserk in those mountains  :).
