Wont make any difference, all you have to do is close the company down, change the name and the move the nominated post holders one place to the right and you can start again perfectly legally.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Not that an investigation isn't warranted, but why do you feel the need to shut down the company?  I would say find out the cause of the crash and if it is at all related to the other crash and could have been avoided.  Sometimes things just happen in aviation (especially in those big kitchen blenders  ;) )

There really hasn't been that many more incidents this year than others, just the media is in a bit of a stir about aviation lately.  This occurs from time to time when there is a big aviation accident (especially one with compelling video), for the next 6-12 months every crash is proof that flying machines are deathtraps and the public should be afraid.  Did I mention the sky is falling?

Commercial air travel can't really be compared to high intensity North Sea oil rig shuttles. ;)

Nasty business. Not pleasant at all.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration there are about 43,000 people killed in fatal car accidents each year in the United States alone.

How many people have died in aviation accidents this year?

You have a better chance of getting into an accident while driving to work than you would crash while flying across the world...

I'm not blaming it on maintenance, again when more than one aircraft goes down so close to another you just have to check everything. If its pilot error in both cases then something needs to be done down that road, if its an aircraft issue something needs to be done there.

Lets be honest you cannot keep tabs on all the indv components in an aircraft, if something decides to give up the ghost it's game over.

My car may breaks down but it's on Terra Firma so I'm a happy chappy ;D Don't get me wrong I think flying is great but it was a stupid idea back then and still is now ;DI guess they'll just keep on falling out the sky as they always have done :P 876 dead in 2008 safe my arse!!

The initial report blames a "catastrophic failure" in the main gearbox, resulting in what it described as "detachment of the main rotor assembly". http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/7994305.stm
