X15 isn't cool at all.....it's noisy, extravagant and unreliable....Kristin Scott Thomas certainly wouldn't get in it.....

.mic

The fact that is broke many different speed records, altitude records, and even first putting Man in Space, however, makes it cool! ;)

[quote]seems some of you have no idea how the cool wall works lol.
Ugly doesn't make it uncool and being the best doesn't make it cool.
"A bit of a pickle" - British translation: A catastrophically bad situation with potentially fatal consequences.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Spitfire is sub zero

Why? Because it didn't shoot down the most fighters during the BoB, didn't win the war by escorting the bombers well into Germany but yet was a symbol of hope for all britons and quite a few others across this here pond as well... most children if they know a ww2 fighter will name a Spitfire.

Another cool one would be the Mosquito. Has two Merlin engines which gave it a higher topspeed than most stuff in the air at the time, gave one hell of a punch with 4 20mm cannons and 4 browning machine guns. And to top it off, It was made of wood!

Now an uncool ww2 plane would be the P-51 Mustang, Sure it was good, It gave the allies an edge by protecting the bombers all the way to Berlin. However it is seriously uncool because though it is praised oftenly as the ultimate American fighter, it was made because of a british request. The initial models weren't really good and to top it all off, the Engine which is the heart of the plane was british as well.

If we are talking about cool flying things then my subzero nomination would be the 30MM GAU-8/A Avenger cannon. A weapon so strong they built an aircraft around it! It was phased out and deemed unnecessary at a time only to be revived in time to kick ass in the sand. In time evolving into the deadliest fixed-wing anti tank weapon!

Is this cool wall nomination style
