Flight 103

09-03-00

C172M

1.2 solo; 5 landings

"1st flight since club checkout- shorts, softs"

Today is just about working hard on operating in the pattern at 2N8: five circuits, short and soft-field takeoffs and landings. A few of my landings are a little bouncy, but other than that, it goes well, I think.
As I'm paying for my fuel, some old-timer approaches and asks me if I'm a student. I say "no", and he simply walks away. Not sure what that was about- my landings were not perfect, but I've seen worse...

I've concocted a little scheme, involving a week off with pay, a free place to stay in New Orleans for a week, and a certain very nice Cessna... I ask the club instructor if the club would be okay with that, and he says "sure; go ahead and book it for the week."

"Any advice?"

"Yeah... don't fly around at night down there."

I call in to the club's reservation service, and find that 3KK is free for the time I want. I've already carefully planned the route, three of them, in fact, in case weather interferes with my plan... next week, I'll be off on my longest trip ever!
