Russian....no longer Russian....

It seems that more and more Russian and former "Eastern Bloc" airlines are stepping away from Russian made aircraft, and are switching to your typical Boeing and Airbus types....how boring.

To be fair, it's nothing but practicality, particularly as Russian/ex Soviet success with a large medium/long haul aeroplane has been limited.

As for older airframes such as the 154, they are always limited by their noise and cost.

They wont act that fast or they'll end up as a victim in another overflight conflict. Sibir isnt politically covered for weird provincial decisions (like kransoyarsk banning access for anything not made in russia) like aeroflot is.
You can be certain that the privately owned big two (airunion and sibir) will fight it out in the messiest way possible... type bans will be a useful tactic (with sibir having almost 100% non russian built fleet)
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and [url=http://an24.uw.hu/]An-24RV[/ur
