RIAT 2008!!!

Postby Domj122 » Wed Feb 13, 2008 10:02 am

Just like to say, the RIAT is 150 days away at RAF Fairford. I cant wait. Last years event was brilliant and im sure this years will be better.

Is anyone going to the RIAT this year then? if so did you go last year and what do you think of it?

Nope. Though I only live 20minutes away, I have no intention of waiting hours in traffic jams to have my eardrums perforated so will leave early on the Saturday morning for Legends... :)

No. Just hundred of god-forsaken noisy fast jet aeroplanes. Having worked there in the past I just find it a bit too busy for my liking. One much prefers the gentle purr of a Merlin or Allison and the growl of P&W radial! For that I can put up with a crowd. :)

hehe....same here....I live about 40 mins away, but on show day it costs 35 quid and it takes 2 hours to get there......I'm definately going to legends on the Saturday (was the highlight of last year....even without glacier girl). I might go to RIAT on sunday, or maybe for the departures on Monday.

I'll be going to Farnborough the week after anyway.....may not be as nice as RIAT, but I'm not picky ;)

Correction....10s of merlins ;)

RIAT for me, it's pretty tricky for me to get to Legends and RIAT and a Raptor just about beats a P-38 for me. Plus, surely RIAT can arrange a flypast of the Lightnings if they do come.

I'm just pi**ed the two shows clashed, was looking forward to covering both but now, given what I do, RIAT is always going to win out. ::)

Yep, I had planned to go to both this year but its not to be... oh well, I'll try to get to at least one Duxford show this year. Still, Shoreham will probably be the highlight for me.  8-)

The weather on Saturday was perfectly fine, and it was only a bit grey most of the Sunday, I don't know why people keep whinging about it!

Yea, Saturday was fine and Sunday was OK. Honestly, if you think that's bad you should have seen some of the airdays we've had at Culdrose!  ;D
