Southwest is cheap and fun.

Kids get to go in first =).
You get to chose your seats.
Free beverages.
Very comfy seats ('cept on the -200s, where they are slightly ripped from 20 years of service xD).
Also, now, Dallas Love field can go to states beyond the bordering ones from Texas, which opened up a lot of new routes, it also saves you an hour from going to Hobby then to wherever.
I like southwest, but I have only been on another airline twice, and that was when I was alone (American Airlines on a MD-80, I went to fly to my mom from Austin to Oakland for her Ebay Conference, the flight made my ears pop A TON of times, didn't like it at all).

Also, I did like continental, but they did nothing to accommodate my brother, who is special needs, and the seats are assigned.

the MD-80s are the worst when your seated near the rear of the its like standing infront of a lawnmower the noise is annoying ::)

It is generally inadvisable to eject directly over the area you just bombed

I've flown with:

Aloha (737)
Hawaiian (MD-80)
Horizon (Dash-8)
Northwest (CRJ-200, 757)
USAir (A320, 737, Dash-8)
BahamasAir (737)
...and probably quite a few others that I don't remember because I was too young.

Which one was the best? Well, the Aloha, Hawaiian, and Horizon flights happened when I was very young, but I'm going to go with either Aloha or Hawaiian for good in-flight service, since I still have some of the best memories of those flights, but Northwest has been operating near me since I was born and at every location I have lived, so there is a connection there as well.

I was in the middle, and I was still 12, yet, I fell asleep (it was around 10:15 PM, and I was coming out of austin), and when I woke up, my ears hurt, my stomach was cramped, and there was one of those pillows that felt like there was wax on it near me.

*shrugs*

but yes, southwest = SIT WHEREVER YOU WANT! =P
