this is the fourth rendition of this story i have heard now. first it was the U.S. Marines... then it was the Navy in San Diego... followed by the U.S. Air force, and finally now the RAF

what discredits this particular telling is that the Sidewinder missile - as far as im aware - is a HEAT SEEKING air to air weapon, not an Anti Radar air to ground weapon.  ::)

a HARM missile would have been more likely the culprit.
