I reckon if we all pitch in a couple of bucks we can have our own SimV DC-3. :D ;D

That would be awesome. 8-)

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Take out a second mortgage and BUY it  (that'll show'er  8-)  )

Seriously though.. if those engines are servicable, they're worth 1/2 the asking price, all by themselves.  I think we SHOULD pool the SimV resources and buy it..

(kidding)  Besides, where would we keep it..  :D

If I had the money and a pilots license, it'd be mine already!

Hey, Sean, James, Dave and some of the other guys in the area let's all pitch in and buy it!!  We can keep it at Flying "W"!!   [smiley=wink.gif]

LOL... buying it would be the easy part... unless we put it to work, we'd all get horribly into debt just keeping it legal and ready to fly, let alone flying it.
Come to think of it, even if it was bringing in money, we'd still go horribly broke... so what the heck?! I'm in!!

Seriously, though, if I were to do such a thing, I'd probably lease it back to a flight training operation that's already set up for type rating courses, and the partners would all get type-rated in it through that school (at some savings). Other than that, maybe form a non-profit LLC and hunt for every "educational" and "historical" tax break possible, etc, etc.

It would be quite do-able among four or five partners... each of whom would have to surrender every other aspect of their life to it, and go totally broke.

But if you gotta go to hell in a bucket, it may as well be a Douglas bucket.
