This is all way too exciting.  If anyone needs a really long cross-country test flight, C29 has two vending machines and any item you want is on me! :D ;)

Hey.. I'm flying from Columbus to Sturgeon  Bay, the weekend of June 21. If weather won't let me take the VFR flyway up Lake Shore Dr, Chicago...   I'll have to fly ALL the way around KORD airspace..I'll make C29 a fuel stop  :)

Dang!  I'm leaving the 18th for two weeks in Wyoming so I won't be around that weekend.  You never know with the summer weather here, maybe you should plan a few extra days at the beginning of the trip, just in case. :D ;)

We got weathered out (heavy frost on the wings and below freezing temps)... but I'm gonna try again, Monday. It's rougher than I remember.. mostly cosmetic stuff though. It has a WAAS-equiped Garmin430 and barely 600 hours on the engine (160hp).. so I'm still intrigued  :)

Yeah.. but I don't have a "schedule" to live by.. so getting weathered in is no problem. Push/shove, I can go instruments (I still try to live by the, "An instrument rating is to get you OUT of weather, not into it" rule..  ;)  ).   Plus.. I figure that 75% of the fun in flying is SEEING things..   :D

That sounds pretty good... what do you think he'll let it go for?

It's a 32 year old airplane. I think the total time is 6500. Of course I'll have it thoroughly inspected. I'm in good with the AP guys at KOSU.

It's been in/out of a club for a few years now.. so it's seen plenty of rental/student time. And it has some damage history (right main gear and nose gear from

If it bounced off a truck and it still flies in a straight line, I'd say it's a keeper. :D

And yes, it's true: the TTAF hours on most rental/club veterans is scary at first until you consider the numerous 100-hr inspections... problems will turn up, but they tend to get addressed in time.

It looks pretty good Brett.  That 430 really must sweeten the deal.  It would be really nice if there would be some way to get the GPS CDI on the VOR 1 indicator and the VOR CDI on the VOR 2 indicator.  But I've never heard of anything like that. :D

Good luck. ;)

The only thing I have to say about the corrosion repair, is that typically in airplanes, if one part is corroded, others probably are too.  But a very thorough pre-buy should investigate that further.  Avionics are replaceable, but not cheap.  If the 430 is working, then the other radio is just extra.

May I also recommend a Garmin 396 or 496.  Once you've flown with one, you won't fly without it.  Plus there is a way to connect it to the 430 to feed it weather and traffic information.
