...but we could get some new tankers!

UK to sign delayed tanker aircraft deal this month

About time too! :) Sadly too late not to have been put to shame by the RAAF, the RSAF and the UAE who procured the same product in the more traditional way, rather than spending a decade fannying around. ::) ;D

It'll be a shame to see the VC-10s and TriStars go...  :-/

Didn't they just start upgrading the Tristars to glass flight decks and modern avionics? Nice to see every one is getting something new.

They have. Having said that, the Tristar does very little refuelling nowadays as it's mostly employed taking talking freight to sandy climes... :)
