A question about real B747-400 Simulators

I would like to try my hand at flying a 747-400 simulator but in order to do so do you have to be a student pilot or do you have to pay an x amount of dollars to use an hours worth on the simulator is it pretty much closed off to civilians?

A student pilot in 747 training or laying a large amount of cash on the table and buying a 20 minute flight are your options. Look in the back of a few aircraft/pilot magazines and you will fine offers to encourage you to part with piles of cash for the experience. There is a third way however. Work for an airline, get to know the chief pilot and ask him, you may end up with 45 minutes at the controls of a 737-800 simulator for free....................It was better than sex 8-)

Oh I know it would be better than sex lol. How much might one be expected to pay to get into a sim? I've heard $600 to $3000. The third option sounds a bit better. Though I would have to relocate in order to work at a bigger airline. I'm 250 miles north of Detroit so that would be an option. Will most likely have to be a steward or whatever you call it to even get to know the pilot.

Ok, Detroit is a little far to travel, but if you go for an older sim, then the prices are not so bad.

Man now I wished I lived out that way. Thats the best deal I've heard of. I'd shell out the $300 just to do the 4 hour airline experience!!
