Please note that I was not saying anything against the 24 year old female pilot, just referencing what the other discussion was about at Anet.

Lufthansa has one of the strictest and toughest training programs for pilots in the world. If she did not hold the qualification, then she would not have been in the position that she was in.


Let's not turn this thread into one similar to Anet

I realised that Dave ;) I was just putting a few pieces of information across though to show how experienced a 24 year old could be, and how the press as usual have a rather precarious leg to stand on! ;D :)

Sorry Dave, I was not pointing a finger or passing judgment. I was trying to say that in the eyes of some at A.net and the media, it does make a difference. Sorry, I should have been more clear. I work for a company that has quite a few female captains and co-pilots, personally all I see is a jacket with 3 or 4 rings on it (then I look a little higher, somewhere between belly button and neck ;D)

PS One a whole I also find that female pilots generally give a better snag de-brief than there male counterparts.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Hamburg has many many restrictions, you cannot use thrust reverse for one. No APU's until engine start another, it is all about noise. They use the configuration one runway to take off and one to land to keep the noise down and get the maximum aircraft movements that are possible.

Also no one is questioning why Hamburg airport was still operating that run way in those weather conditions....................
Hamburg has many many restrictions, you cannot use thrust reverse for one. No APU's until engine start another, it is all about noise. They use the configuration one runway to take off and one to land to keep the noise down and get the maximum aircraft movements that are possible.  


How much of a noise issue could there possibly be when wind gusts are up to 90mph?  I wonder of neighbors call the city to complain about the sounds of storms...  You're right, the airport has some (most?) culpability here.


That is not the point, it is Germany, Black and white, no gray, everything and anything that covers a rule or regulation is written down and gets a stamp (they do love official stamps, naturally only an official official can officially stamp anything). Transgression will occur the wrath of said official along with a  strafe (fine and they do love their fines). A German not following the rules is like a Texan giving up his right to have a gun. It just does not happen. Also if someone in authority has told that's the way it is, THEN THAT'S THE WAY IT IS, end of discussion. I just accept now. After 10 years of being here I have learnt that trying to buck the system just gets you nowhere (you have to employ a little subtlety 8-) )
