Soon i will be joining the AAFC - Australian Air Force Cadets :o

I will get to do lots of things not only looking at flying though. I will get to go on lots of survival and normal camps. they will shove me in a bunch of planes and GLIDERS!!!! I get to sky dive and parachute form a C-130 Hercules and get to go on Aerobatic flight in the CT-4 and Roulettes PC-9! I also get to be qualified in using the F-88 Aus Steyr Rifle and get to enter a rifle shooting competition... not with blanks live ammunition!!!
During this i will also be certified as not only military pilot but also a civilian pilot at the same time because this is all under CASA as well.
I get to fly int he controls of the CT-4 and C-150 while i am there. I get to live at RAAF bases all over Victoria, New South wales and Border South Australia. I also get to go in Tasmania sometimes!!! :D I get to also do maintenance and i can choose to do ATC Learning as well  :P

I am sooooooooooooo Happy and cannot wait to start
Now after school holidays i can ask my friend what they do they'll be like ahh i went to go see a movie and friends and stuff and i can say well i went shooting with a military rifle and got to fly a glider and some other planes  ;D

Thanks for reading.... please tell me what you think too..

well i hope your cadets are better than the ones i've tried.
they hype it all up, and say we get to go flying, shooting, etc. i couldn't wait to start going. then when i did go, the leaders just couldn't be bothered, and i had an absolutley awful time.
but i have joined a new squadron, and the people and leaders are much nicer.
good luck

Often that's the case. Sometimes Sqn's will suffer if badly led. It's often worse if they also give false expectations. In the UK they'll grab you with "tonnes of flying" - which is actually contracted as one 20 minute flight per year (gliding isn't so restrictive). It's also down to the cadets sometimes. If a Sqn is given so many slots for a certain activity, say a camp, and they end up not filling them, then they may well lose them the following year.

Layne, glad you found the AAFC. Enjoy it. You're only young once (unless you believe in reincarnation!) :)

Well i truly believe what they are saying.
They are young leaders in there as well... basicly it is young people everywhere and the older guys just guide you, some of the young people evene tell off the older guys because they can ;D

Don't let them trick you into washing the RAAF New C-17's, trying to tell you "it'll be fun!" and you get to go on it after you are done.
