Can you fly a 747 out of Boston Logan Int'l?  If that is the question, then, yes; it is possible.

Can you put one in your backpack and take it out of the airport like you would duty-free goods?  Well, you would need an awfully big backpack . . .

Did you post this after a pint or two?  ::)

Confused,

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

You can take the 747 out of Logan, but you can't take Logan out of the 747?

I assume the question is:

"If I want to fly out of Logan on a 747, what airlines and flights and destinations do I have to book?"

Has anyone here seen the video footage of a 747 landing at St. Martin in the Netherlands Antilles? WOW!!! Man, I bet those passengers had to have their seats surgically removed after THAT landing. I imagine it HAD to have been an emergency landing situation because St. Martin's Princess Juliana Airport is nowhere NEAR big enough to accommodate 747's and spans beach -to- beach. He just barely makes the runway on his approach. It is a wild video! You can see it at military.com ... it is in the "Top Shocks" section.

747s regularly fly into SXM. The runway is easily more than enough for a 747 as it is over 7000 feet long, however, long range flights are payload restircted and as far as I know, need to refuel half way home.

Really? I didn't think they could. This particular video shows the aircraft come-in EXTREMELY low and it barely makes the runway on touchdown ... he almost takes-out the fence! He actually "hits" the very edge of the runway on touchdown. I wouldn't have been very happy if i were on that plane!
I can't post a link or Ozzy will get mad but you can cut/paste this text into your browser to see it. Just add the "HTTP// to:

Amazing! I have been around aviation for a long time and seen some wild stuff but I have never seen a landing like that involving something the size of a 747 that was considered "normal". LOL, guess I need to broaden my horizons.
