Refueling in Kartouhm... old-school stylee. ;D

And off again, over more and more industrial landscapes. This program dug deeply into the impact of development along the Nile, especially the effect of the numerous dams on nutrient outflow into the Mediterranean... very interesting stuff.

Another smooth landing, somewhere to the north...

And just a few pretty shots from this terrific aircraft.

I hate to close the series with a bummer, but it should be noted that Philippe Cousteau lost his life in this very aircraft the year after this was shot, prior to its release... details are sketchy, but after a post-maintenance shakedown flight in Portugal, either the water landing went wrong or something went wrong prior... he was killed when a propeller penetrated the cabin; either a blade came off or the whole assembly "walked" off the shaft. You can see here why that could be a very bad thing for the pilot on that side...

Whatever the cause, a very sad event- a very useful and well-lived life ended so soon and so violently!   :'(
