most airports that serve jets have noise reduction procedures that require the pilots to climb at the best vertical rate possible until reaching a specified altitude. this usually reduces the noise level outside of a 3 - 4 mile perimeter around airports.
IMHO if you live inside that 3 - 4 mile circle... dont even think about complaining.



When the are departing using 9L they are using minimum power and at a certain altitude you can hear them throttle up so, the noise of them going out isn't that annoying. I asked some of my neighbors how they felt about the aircraft going over and they said they are so use to it that they don't hear it anymore. Where this nice gentlemen lives the altitude of the jets is around 10 to 12 thousand feet.
