What a ridiculous idea. They fly completely different aircraft so their routines are very different (not to mention most members here won't have seen both!) so trying to say which is better is impossible.

yeh, so that takes it down to more or less personal preference. the blue angels (in what ive seen of them) just go simple formations but the arrows do some crazy ass stuff such as the chippo (or however ya call it) break away and the spinning around trails

It is called "Gypo"

that is probably why i cant find any pictures of it lol. thanks for the info

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Was this just a flyby or a full-on combined display? I'm really hoping the latter is true...

Wouldn't it be great to combine the best elements of the two teams - the Blue Angels' tight formations, speed and power, with the Red Arrows' mad aerobatics, daring stunts and variety? That would be mind boggling.

This makes me wonder if you've ever seen the Red Arrows.

I've seen the Reds in action many times. If you dislike them, fine. You may be surprised to learn I actually don't care what you think! ;)

I have always been a big fan of the Reds. I've seen them many times since they were first formed but I would hardly describe their display as "mad aerobatics" or "daring stunts". That sort of thing is for the barnstormers & not a highly professional national display team.

I'm just a humble 13-year old struggling to find words and phrases worthy of the Reds. O.k then, I'll have another crack at it;

Highly organized, sophisticated, varied routine leaving those who see it gasping for breath by the end. It involves illusions of proximity, hand in hand with actual proximity, along with immense skill and ingeniuity. The maneuvers they pull off are complex and are equal to works of art in my mind, and many others.

Good enough? ;)

You're just getting a tad carried away with enthusiasm. Nothing wrong with that. ;)

Judge for yourselves. Red Arrows RIAT 2006

Very skillful, but they pulled off one "no,no": Coming straight at the crowd.

It must have passed the rigid display safety requirements. These get stricter every year & you will soon need binoculars to watch them. Until a few years ago they used to fly over the crowd.

yeh, now like every air event requires the planes to fly parallel to the crowd at the closest. but the reds and others do fly at the crowd then break away

Sorry to butt in again. The only one the crowd hears speaking on the radio during the display is Red One, the team leader issuing orders like "Smoke ON - GO" or "Break". His voice is distorted by his oxygen mask & G forces.
