There was flooding around Lincolnshire yesterday but the arrivals / preview day went ahead as normal. There was virtually no flooding whatsoever in the general area. Not every part of Lincolnshire sits on the banks of a river.

i'm sure they do have drainage for rain, but drains can only take so much water away. ever seen a flooded runway? i'm affraid runways do get flooded, being in a helicopter it doesnt matter much  to me but the weekend before last i witnessed a few very unhappy chaps at the club not flying because of the runway, they couldnt even do circuits, aerodromes just close the runway if need be, maybe particulaly GA but you gotta look at the risks involved with thousands of spectators watching a nimrod aquaplaning along a runway. they do flood, check out an airlaw book which tells you about how much of the runway can contain runway before its closed.

It's highly unlikely, but yes, it is a small possiblity I grant you that. Oh, and yes I do know runways can get flooded.

got tickets but looks like the weather will be cancelling it this weekend, which means it'l be gone till next year. check out the met office, flood warnings for lincs.

Thankfully Waddo is about 230ft/70m above sea level. The North Sea would need to burst its banks before Waddo flooded. :) Lincoln wasn't that badly hit either - only a couple of low lying areas and field were flooded.

Sunday's the best bet. There was a little water problem at Waddo earlier in the week I think, but not real flooding, just standing water I expect.

Unfortunately on the Sunday there is no Jaguar, Il-76, Il-78 or Nimrod MRA4.

One of the Reds is injured, so there'll be an 8-ship for some time.

Doh! As I mentioned in t'other thread, it was cancelled by the police on health and safety grounds*, that they couldn't support the event if the river in lincoln burst its banks. In which case, why on earth did they wait until 0800 to cancel the show, when most people are on their way already? The ground underfoot today was softer than notmal, but will very little standing water...

*Interesting to note, if the organisers cancel the show, then insurance becomes invalid; if the police cancel it, then they can claim...
