Leverage is good (Airventure)

Postby beaky » Sun Apr 08, 2007 9:21 pm

Airventure 2007 here I come...!!

I've been asked by my employers to go down to Biloxi, Miss. from mid-April until July 4th (with a break of a couple of weeks in the middle)... got my friends with a nice house down in Asbury Park to take in Peg for the duration, but it's gonna be rough for me: long days, 7 days a week; nothing to do and no free time to do it... for week after week after week. My plans for the next coupla months will have to go on hold. I may not even get a chance to do any flying down there... and I will be stuck with only my work laptop...shudder...

So I took the gig on one condition: I made the project manager swear that I would get my planned July vacation no matter what.   ;)

If they try to screw me again like they did last year, then I guess I'll walk. They will owe me big time for volunteering for the Living Hell That is Post-Katrina Biloxi... it would be the last straw. I can always find another job. Might even move to Shreveport to work as a movie rigger; I've got a "friend inside" who keeps telling me to stop fooling around and come earn some real money...

So I'll be in Oshkosh come showtime, no matter what. ;D

Who else is going this year?  ;D

I meant besides you. ::)

So what's your plan this year? Flying in? I am not certain my car will make it this time, and even less sure I'll be able to get a plane... I may have to hitch-hike.

My plans will be dynamic; subject to change and flexible..

I do fear however that our plans for the fly-in itself, might clash.

I keep prodding my parents, but I doubt they will let me go :'(  Oh well, I'll figure out a way to get there eventually

I doubt I'll make it this year, barring some miracle. I'm broke with a capital BROKE. ::)
I went in '05, and I was kind of surprised that my plan went off without a hitch. I flew in commercial to Appleton, caught the EAA shuttle to KOSH, and camped out for 4 days in what I would call a "micro tent". I brought only what would fit in an Army duffel bag, and made do with what I had. Would I do it all again? in a heartbeat... and with a thicker wallet.  :P

P.S. The communal showers aren't that bad, just concentrate on the ceiling. ;)

Have fun in Biloxi, or whats left of it.  I'm from down that way, but moved away about a year ago.

But you gotta go back! The new casinos will be open this summer...and Target, and Pizza Hut...and maybe ten or twenty Starbuck's... why,  it'll be better than ever!  ::)

I will be going and camping in Camp Scholler for 4-5 days. We should try to organize a gathering of all of us Simviationers once airventure gets closer.

Cheers,

Well, I may see Brett there this year, but probably won't be doing any flying with you this time, dude.

I really want to camp all week again... got my fill of the showers too, but this year I just won't bathe. ;D

I'd love to fly in, but it's already getting late in the game to glom a ride, or plan to fly myself. Not sure where I'll be with the flying in the brief period between the Biloxi job and Airventure...

I guess I just have to make sure the Tracker can get me out there and back one more time, unless I can get a ride from the NYC area by car or plane.

Been checking the EAA "Find a Ride" forum... anybody have any other suggestions?
