[quote][quote][quote][quote]No ones mentioned the SR-71 yet? Fastest aircraft in the world (Except, of course, the X-15 and Orbiters)? I know I miss the SR-71 greatly, and am saddened by the fact that it probably won't ever fly again

Ever since Viktor Belenko defected, the west learned the Mig-25 was more hype than substance.

I wouldn't say that.

It may have been worthless for intercepting bombers but perfectly suited for the recon role - as demonstrated (I think) 1973 over Israel when IAF Phantoms and Daggers deperately tried to intercept egyptian Foxbats (piloted by russian pilots) on their way to Egypt.

According to Mig Pilot, those Mig-25s burned their engines out when they made those high-speed dashes.

F-14 will be missed the most of all my planes second would have to be the p-51. I never have saw a p-51 fly but I have saw many on the ground.

The P-3C Orion. There used to be a airbase nearby, so they flow over the house and basicly anywhere i went on the surrounding area. Loved there sound and how they looked. They have been sold to the germans and hungarians though and they closed the base...

Meh they were practically given away and not to the hungarians but to the Portugese :D I'm with you on this one! I really miss them to! I was at the base during the disbandment of the Squadron's It's awfully funny to hear a lot of elderly veterans swear and curse :D

And I was thinking how embarassing it actually was to replace old aircraft with not-that-old aircraft.  :P
