helicopter question

Postby VVM » Thu May 24, 2007 11:38 am

hi all.  im currently doing a 4 year technical apprenticeship with a leading compnay who produce surveillance, protection, tracking, targeting, navigation & control and imaging systems.  as part of this apprenticeship i am studying several subjects at college.  one of these subjects is Statics and Dynamics.  My lecturer has given us the task of finding out the forces which act upon a helicopter during flight.  There are apparently 7 forces.  Does anyone know what any of these forces are?  Im not just going to sit back and let you guys answer for me   :)  i am going to try and find out myself, but i thought i would the experiece/knowledge of everyone here to help me out.

Thanks in advance   :)

Errmmm well... you'll have:

  • Lift
  • Drag
  • Gravity
  • Thrust
  • Yaw factor from the torque of the main rotor?
  • Force of the tail rotor counteracting the torque?
  • Errmmmm yea....
Dunno... thats about all I could think of!...  :)
