Maybe I'm seeing things with this head cold, but I think it's real. The high angle of the sun fools you a little... but the foliage spilling over the wall in the background has the same sort of shadow. So does the couple with the dog by the water's edge.
High, attenuated shadows, with the sun behind the left shoulder of the photographer.
On the belly of the plane, I think I can see the distorted reflection of the couple on the blanket. Certainly the other colors, etc. match up.

It was discussed on another forum awhile back...its real  Air France was officialy dubbed Air FENCE after coming in a little to low and clipping the fence with a 747

Youd be surprised.  Theres been a few, one even said in the description it was fake...and a pathetic one at that, yet the screeners allowed it...while some of us with decent REAL pics and sometimes rare pics get rejected for the dumbest details

That shadow is real! A small part is hidden behind a sand bulge/bump/something so you cant see it.

If it is a fake (I do not think so) then someone has gone to extreme lenghs to fake a photo for a website that has more St. Maarten approach pictures that is knows what to do with.

The shadow may look incorrect from the angle the picture was taken at. But look at it more closely, the beach slopes away, this creates the distorted image.

I'm not sure if the plane is as low as the photo makes out. It appears that it's directly over the guy sat on the beach, and he could reach up and touch it. But with a long lens the view gets foreshortened, confusing depth and where things are in the picture.
The aircraft is probably half way between the photographer and the sunbather, and if you look at it with this in mind the plane doesent seem quite as low. (My theory anyway...)
