the final one wasn't so much in the cockpit but the crew of an Irish Air Corps PC9 allowed me to climb up the wing and take a shot of the inside of the cockpit itself.

Nice, isn't it! Bleedin' gorgeous! ;D

737 when ever I want to....I work on them. Must have been a dozen times last year. Last weekend of this month should be the next  :D. Not sure my wife will be too impressed when I leave her "down the back" with our two rug rats to look after, still, how long could she be pissed with me  8-)

I could continue with a very long list here, I have been very lucky, but I won't bore you. ;) I will keep it short and jump to the the top of the list. Once flew in the Bristol Blenheim when she was airworthy and in a previous life, a back seat trip in a Harrier T10............back seat, but your own cockpit.

I've only been in the Cockpit of two Commercial jets, both parked at the gate, One Pre-9/11, the other post-9/11. Not sure what plane the first one was (I was 7 or so), but I remember meeting the pilots and looking at all the goodies inside before I got shy and left  ;D... The other, more recent, was in an A320 operated by Jet Blue. While boarding the plane, I just asked the Stewardess who was standing outside the cockpit if I could go in and see it, She asked the pilots, I went in no problem  :D Pilots at JetBlue are quite friendly too, so that was one of the better moments of my Week-long 16th birthday celebration  ;D

A DC-3

Does a B-52 Trainer count?

EDIT: They were both in a museum.

Cessna 150/172

Some sort of short haul airliner...this was a long while back when I was a kid...it was a short flight into Hong Kong...I think the pilot was coincidentally the son of my grandpa's wingman back in WWII or something like that...who recognized my mom...all I remember is that it was really cramped :P

F-14...operational fighter...but it just sat there...this was like 1 or 2 month after 9/11 too...I had to somesort of video documentary for English on the USN, so my friend and I got some.

Me-163B-1 Komet (the one thats sitting down in Savannah...)...the museum guy was really cool about it...

A-7...the cockpit was removed from the rest of the aircraft and put on display...but that still counts doesn't it?

Some other plane...same sort of stuff as the A-7...although I don't think it was American tho...

...and a F/A-18 simulator (took my 7 year old cousin on there with me...and he was a natural and kicked ass like none other even from the back seat 8-)...so damn proud of him 8-)

Oohhhh, I just remembered one!  I sat in an AH-64 Apache probably 10 or 12 years ago.  I don't remember too much, but I remember sitting in the front looking through the gunner's scope.  My dad has pictures somewhere, but I don't know if we know where they are at the moment. :P ;)

Conan: I'm surprised. What airline was that? *Quite* relaxed security on their part, or maybe you just don't look like a terrorist.  ;D

Yes, it was Air France (watch the link I posted). And as I said, the First Officer was really, really friendly (we chat for about half an hour). The pilot was quit all the time. That was strange, because during approach, he didn't tell the First Officer to check the gear. He just made a sign with his hand :o. From Lufthansa I know, that this is never going to happen, because they (Lufthansa) are really serious about avoiding misunderstandings.

Funny thing: Just before final approach,  the "Master Warning" light, then the "Master Caution" got on. With only one move (like a reflex) the pilots pushed it of with an embarrased look to me. ;D*loool*

And btw: Do I look like a terrorist? (watch avatar) ;)

Other cockpit experiences: As I was a young boy (several years before, until I got 8), I very reguarly flew the line between Hamburg and Saarbrucken (in the south-west of germany). I was in cockpit on every flight (was a Dash or something).

And a spesific experience: ...was in a single little prop aircraft (3 seats) in northern France. I were allowed to fly myself for over half an hour!! :o The pilot (and my Dad on the backseat) were surprised how good I could handle the aircraft. The pilot: "Are you practising at home on PC?" ;D ;D
