We had an An-2 based at my local airport (N85) for a while. Dissapeared a few years ago and I'm not quite sure what happened to it. Sad really because that's the plane the sparked my interest in aviation. :)

Edit-also saw the a Polish Air Force Tu-154 the other week at Giants Stadium.

I really don't know.
I suppose most of the stuff you see in museums are rare.
I suppose the rarest I have seen flying will have been a Concorde a few years back when it made a trip to leeds bradford, and a load of other stuff that you see at airshows like the Sea Vixen etc.

Rarest thing I've seen is probably a Tu-154 when we had landed at LPFR for a holiday...funny thing was, 2 weeks later on departure, it was still there :D
And also the "usual" rare stuff, like the BBMF etc....I've probably seen more rare things, just can't remember them ::)

All you people saying DC-3 as a rare plane stop, its not rare at all....there are a couple hundred still flying.

The rarest Ive seen I saw today, the only flying SB2C Helldiver in the world

Crap, I was going to an airshow today (Richmond RAAF)... only problem was it was 1 hour and 11 minutes away from where I live... so I missed it.  >:( The RAAF was displaying their new C-17s!  >:( And the USAF had a KC-135 there! I've also seen a couple of KC-10s flying in to YSSY why from time to time. Seen the A380.  ::) all the 10yr olds there thought that it would be "really loud" because of its size. lol. Ive had an Adagold Il-76 fly over my school.  ;D

No need to worry. The first RAAF C-17 hadn't flown as of 10 days ago, and the C-17 at the show is a USAF one - seemingly a reasonably regular visitor. :)

Excluding museums,

I haven't seen anything rare. Probably Il-76.

I've seen An-124s landing several times. They are loud as hell. Even though much more Il-76s were produced than An-124s, it is much more common to see an An-124 in North America than Il-76.

I get excited when I see a 727. ;D
