United Kingdom Airshows

Hey ,
      I Live in the UK in London , and Last year was my 1st time at Air tatoo 2006! I really thought it was brilliant , Now im getting a new DIGITAL Camera , either the fuji s9600 or the Panasonic Z75 or whatever it is because the camera i used , was an old wind up one called Canon AV-1 , It was embarrsing carrying an oold camera around but hopefully im getting the new one for christmas.

Anyhow i wanted to know what is the most reccomended airshow i can get to in the UK ?

RIAT, Yeovilton, Duxford, Cosford.
Others highly recommended, Middle wallop, Old Warden.

I don't think Doug really goes outside of the south/south east of the country to see his airshows. He's just fortunate in that it's where most of them are.

The RAF Waddington show is worth attending too, if it's not too far from you. Last year it was a little disappointing for the enthusiasts (although it did clash with two other large shows in Europe), so here's hoping to a better 2007.

And considering it'll only be your 2nd/3rd show by then, you shouldn't be disappointed.

It all depends on what you want to see; Modern heavy metal or real vintage aircraft.

RIAT, Waddo and Leuchars (not next year) are the main three airfield based military shows, with others such as Eastbourne and Biggin Hill

For a blend many of the medium sized events have a mix, and some of the Duxford shows (not Flying Legends)

For vintage stuff, Duxford, Old Warden, Breighton and the other numerous smaller events.

That's true enough. Unless it's something very special, 3 hours driving each way is my limit these days. That still gives me plenty of choice for most weekends during the season.

I note that you're 14 Alex & live in London so I don't know how you're fixed for transport. This should give you some ideas. The dates for the bigger shows in 2007 are already set but I expect some will be added later. http://www.aeroflight.co.uk/shows/showdate.htm
Southend at the end of May & Biggin Hill the following weekend shouldn't be too difficult for you to get to. Seafront shows like Southend are free but some of these places can be expensive, especially for families. If you can afford it & transport is no problem the world is your lobster really.

As the others have said, it depends which sort of show you're interested in.

Don't forget Biggin Hill Alex, the only airshow within the M25 as far as I'm aware...
And don't be embarassed carrying ANY camera... all eyes are on the air, not what's around your neck.  ;)

I travel around a bit (all by train) to get to some airshows....My advice is to look at the smaller ones. The most enjoyable for me this year were Biggin Hill and kemble......both relatively small compared to Farnborough and RIAT.

Anyway....I would also recommend Duxford, always good

PS....Just reading back I am 14 also (15 in a month). Dont let this stop you! I organised and paid for a day trip to Duxford for me this year and it was great fun (I live in Bristol so it's quite a trek) Trains are more reliable than people make out, and many airshows operate a free bus service from the stations.
