I can't imagine why anyone would want to run an airline, unless it's as a hobby. To do that you would need to be exceedingly rich & be prepared to lose a lot of money.

PS. My old boss did exactly that in the late 1970s. He took over an existing small airline that was in a bad way. By investing a lot of time & money in it he kept it going for another few years. He never made anything out of it except satisfaction. AFAIK

Um, yes?  Youd be better off trying to just be a pilot.

That's my Plan B. ;D

How far can I go in the aviation industry if I'm hard of hearing?

All the way to the top.  You won't get to the top of an airline by being a pilot.  You do that by being a manager.  So go to business school, become a manager at an airline.  Work your way up the ladder.  You probably won't get to the top, but you'll be managing a chunk of an airline someday.

Do you like boats?

Just kidding, it depends on how hard of hearing you are, as long as you can pass the required medical certificates, you can go as far as you want.  There are rated pilots that are totally deaf, they have to fly with a safety pilot of course, so I doubt there would be many aircraft operators willing to hire two pilots when they could hire one.

Good luck with whatever you do choose to do though. ;)

Oh, and here you go dcunning...;D

Well, to be honest, i like being on airplanes, so I guess being a pilot will let me do that more often than being the head honcho at an airline. :)

EDIT: also, do I have to be a certain height to be an airline pilot? I ask because i'm one of the shorter people, 5'2".

Alternative occupation...?

If you like being on planes then perhaps you should consider a job which requires a lot of travel.  Sales, perhaps?  They're a lot more common than pilot and airline exec jobs.

BTW, where are you in your career?  Do you have a college degree?  Work experience?
