mechanic forgot to tighten the bolts after an engine check-up or maintenance routine. The cowling flew off in flight.

hmmmm, so which airlines use turquoise engine cowlings? think Ill be staying away from them ;)

Hell, maybe the lack of cowling does wonders for the cooling of the engine, maybe not so much the aeodynamics though.. maybe the two cancel each other out!

As I said the first time I saw this: if it's still there, still developing thrust, and it's not on fire, it's a good engine. ;D

Does anyone know of any other engine type that the 737-500 has apart from the CFM 56-3. I only ask because the engine in the picture in not a 56-3. First point, is the oil tank is not where it should be, that being the viewed side at about the 4 o'clock position. That was just the first thing, so for comparison check this picture.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
