Farnborough Airshow 06 (vid link here)

Postby Tom_M » Tue Jul 18, 2006 11:02 am

Any Simviators going this year?

I've been sponsored by Raytheon (look on Wikipedia) as part of a group to go on the 21st and watch the show (can't wait to see the A380) as well as go on the simulators etc. Can't wait :)

Anyone been previously know what it's like?

Why and how did you get sponsered by Raytheon to go to an airshow?

Was born in the right town ;) One of Raytheon's major UK divisions is just down the road and they offered our 6th form six free tickets, first-come first-serve with transport laid on and lunch in their executive... lunch place... at the show.

You're very lucky & I'm sure you will enjoy it. You should get the full VIP treatment, I imagine that Raytheon has a marquee overlooking the airfield where you can watch the show from if you wish. If the 21st is on Friday that's the first public day with a much better air display than on the previous trade days.

Just looked at the First Great Western website :(

Looks like the strike will mean that only 1/3 of the services will be running, meaning mine probably wont be. Typical we've even bought tickets in advance.

Oh well the revised timetable comes out tomorrow, so theres always hope.

Yep gonna be there on the Saturday, looking like a good lineup, the A-380 and an Osprey.

Hagar- Hope so ;)

I'll be videoing the day so I'll probably mix the aviation parts together for SimV in Sony Vegas. The lineup looks great :)

just hope the tracks arn't warped from the heat like they are here ;) ;D
My fondest memory of Farnborough was getting in with my cousin and his mate who was a BAE systems employee so that meant all access. It also meant a great view of Typhoons first public display in the UK. Sure it wasn't exactly stunning in terms of manuevers, but the plane just looked amazing.

First public display tomorrow!!

Friday (today) always used to be the first public display day.

Apparently Tony Blair was there today and thought the A380 and the Red Arrows was one of the most amazing sights he had ever seen......

No comment. :-X

PS. The Red Arrows usually only perfom on the public days.
