Oshkosh Daily Updates

Postby IcraveAkro » Sun Jul 23, 2006 6:28 am

Hey All,

Well I live in the Appleton/Oshkosh area and I will be attending the airshow all week and since I know some of you cant make it I will be giving daily updates every night about what went on and maybe even a couple of photos.  I'll try not to make it sound to good for you that cant be here but I figure that some of you would like to know the highlights.

Bill, I am flying into Milwaukee on the 25th and staying until the 28th, I would appreciate any directions from Milwaukee to Oshkosh, I have never been in this part of the county before. If I bump into you there  I will by you a beer.  Thanks, Mark

Directions to Whittman (KOSH) from Gen. Mitchell Airport in Milwuakee: Directions

I'm not too familiar with the Milwuakee area, so I don't know how good the directions are there, but towards Oshkosh, you'll definitely see how to get to the airshow as there are loads of signs, cars, and airplanes everywhere, so you can't really miss it. ;)

Thanks for the directions, The roads around Milwaukee is what I was worried about, if they are anything like Pittsburgh, there are 5 different ways to go somewhere, and 4 of them are under construction. I don't think Mapquest will route you away from traffic.

Well I just got back from KOSH and it was a wonderful day. Not to many warbirds are there yet, I counted 7 P51s and probaly 5 or 6 more landed before I left. Handfuls of T34's and T-6's also there are 3-4 B-25's. The number #7 Blue Angel arrived at about 5PM and is on display in aeroshell square. Tomorrow the show starts and I'll have more info for you all tomorrow.

Ok so yesterday I saw Mike Goulian fly his new Extra 300SHP. Amazing performance. Danny Clisham was awarded the Bill Barber award for showmanship at a presentation at the theartre in the woods. And I can honestly say I've seen The Beach Boys.
Today I saw the demonstration of the TBM 500, a single engine turboprop that is competing for the same business that the light jets are competing in. Burt Rutan gave a speech about the future of space flight with Spaceship II and hopes that in the next thirty years that spaceflight will be available to anyone that can pay in the tens of thousands of dollars. Tomorrow should be another exciting day.
