1. find an aviation medical examiner... here is a good place to start http://www.faa.gov/pilots/amelocator/

2. call the Aviation medical examiner to schedule an appointment

3. go to the appointment and fill out the form they give you

4. Complete the medical examination which is pretty much a basic physical. dont worry about the contacts so long as you can see better that 20/40 with them IN your eyes

5. pay the man

6. take your certificate

7. go home

the exam itself consists of the following more or less... test  your blood pressure, eye sight, color vision, depth perception, hearing (he will probably just whisper something to you so pay attention) pee in a cup, he'll listen to your chest take your weight and height, and thats pretty much it.

hope that answers the question

in short it doesnt matter how tall you are or how much you weigh as long as your height and weight are proportional and the doctor doesnt think you are about to have a massive heart attack.

whatever you do dont make a big deal out of the medical, any average joe who doesnt have known severe medical disorders can pass the thing. i have had tougher medical exams when trying out for foot ball.

good luck and dont sweat it it really is not a big deal. These doctors are usually pilots themselves and they are not just out to keep people from flying. most of them are there to promote the development of future pilots and i have had a few of them go out of their way to help my students get through the medical process. But if you are an average joe in decent shape and your not diabetic, color blind or have heart disease or something like that you will be in and out of the office in 20 minutes (not counting waiting room time)

Actually the 1st class FAA medical requires your vision to be correctable to 20/20.
